The firm traces its origins to 1790, when John Turnbull worked as a cabinetmaker and undertaker on the Fish Quay, and it remains family-owned into its seventh generation.
It arranges traditional funerals, cremations, cemetery and woodland burials, direct cremations and prepaid funeral plans, and keeps a 24-hour telephone line. A second branch sits at Benton Road in Newcastle, but Albion Road is the North Shields home.
