Bessie & The Zinc Buckets and Frog on The Tyne
A live music double bill at The Exchange 1856.
About This Event
A double bill with deep roots in the North East's live-music scene. Bessie & The Zinc Buckets are a South Shields band with a legacy stretching back more than four decades, built on a rowdy, good-time rockabilly sound and a slap-double-bass swagger that has won them a devoted regional following. They hold the rare distinction of being an unsigned act to have sold out Newcastle City Hall, and their gigs are known less as polite recitals and more as full-tilt, foot-stomping parties. Sharing the stage is Frog on the Tyne, a guitar-and-double-bass outfit that trades in well-loved covers and originals, drawing on a wide songbook that ranges from rock and roll standards to pop and folk favourites. With members whose musical lineage overlaps that of the headliners, the pairing makes for a natural, warm-hearted evening of proper Tyneside live music, delivered with plenty of energy and a knowing sense of fun.
