For a full day's childcare with plenty to do, YMCA North Tyneside on Church Way runs a summer holiday club with activities and day trips. For sport specifically, Sports Camps NE runs multi-sport holiday camps at Whitehouse Primary School, and North Shields Juniors AFC holds soccer camps through the summer. These are ideal for burning off energy and are handy for working parents.

Days out on your doorstep

Not every day needs to be booked. Stephenson Steam Railway opens on extra days in the school holidays, with a free museum and heritage train rides, and the Fish Quay, the Shields Ferry and Northumberland Park make easy, low-cost outings. The nearby beaches at Tynemouth and Cullercoats are perfect on a warm day.
