About 3rd Tynemouth (Ritson's Own) Scout Group
3rd Tynemouth (Ritson's Own) Scout Group meets at its headquarters on Billy Mill Lane in North Shields, close to Billy Mill and the town centre. Formed in 1915 by George Greenacre of Chirton and later named Ritson's Own after the local colliery owner Colonel Ritson, it is one of the oldest groups in the district and celebrated its centenary in 2015. Weekly sections cover Beavers for ages 6 to 8, Cubs for ages 8 to 10 and a half, and Scouts for ages 10 and a half to 14.
The group describes itself as an adventurous, fun Scout group in the heart of North Shields, with a programme that ranges from crafts and games for the youngest members to camps, hikes and specialist activities for older Scouts. It is run by volunteers and is part of the Tynemouth District. Families can find joining details and current section availability through the group's website.
