About Tynemouth Cricket Club
Tynemouth Cricket Club was formed in 1847 and, despite the name, its ground sits on Preston Avenue in North Shields, between the town centre and Tynemouth and walkable from either Metro station. The club has played in the North East Premier League since 2000 and fields senior and junior sides through the summer, on a ground built in 1909 and refurbished in 2008, with around fifty parking spaces and step-free access.
Off the field the club runs Bar 1847, its clubhouse bar, which is available for function hire and opens for club events through the year. The best known of those is its annual fireworks display in early November, a ticketed evening with food, a bar and the clubhouse open throughout, which has become the nearest organised Bonfire Night display for both North Shields and Tynemouth.
