How Do You Do stands on Hudson Street on the bank above North Shields Fish Quay, a characterful restaurant and cocktail bar whose theatrical, Wonderland-ish styling has made it one of the more distinctive rooms in the town. The kitchen runs a broad crowd-pleasing menu, burgers and grills prominent among it, served from late morning into the evening, and the bar is as well known locally for its themed afternoon teas as for its dinners.

Its other draw is the function room, which the restaurant hires out for anything from 20 to 200 guests and tailors to the booking, serving either a buffet or a sit-down meal from the main menu. Baby showers, birthdays, hen parties, corporate events and Christmas parties are all taken, which makes it one of the few places in North Shields with a genuine private dining space and a full kitchen behind it. Food service finishes a good while before the bar closes, so confirm timings when you book.
