About The Bay Foodbank
The Bay Foodbank is an independent charity based on Meadow Well Way in North Shields, and describes itself as the only foodbank serving the whole of North Tyneside. It provides emergency food parcels to people in crisis through referrals from agencies such as schools, GP practices, Adult Social Care and Citizens Advice, and also supports school breakfast clubs and runs a food waste diversion programme.
The foodbank relies heavily on volunteers, recruiting drivers (with a vehicle provided), drivers' assistants, warehouse assistants, front-of-house greeters and occasional helpers for collection days, with an online form for anyone wanting to get involved. Businesses can arrange corporate volunteering, and donations of food and money are welcomed. It is a registered charity, number 1151746.
