About The Meadows
The Meadows is a charity based on Waterville Road in the heart of the Meadow Well estate, running a large community hub and a five-acre community garden for people living in some of North Tyneside's most deprived wards. The hub hosts a wide range of activities and support services, and the garden behind it, which the charity calls a hidden gem at the back of the centre, is open for everyone to use.
Gardening is a central part of the charity's wellbeing work, used to help adults with additional needs and young people at risk of exclusion from school build confidence and practical skills. Volunteers have given thousands of hours to the garden, and the charity welcomes new volunteers in both the centre and the gardens whatever their experience; details are on its website or by phone.
